LIFE AS A SINGLE
Life as a single has its pluses and minuses as any status in life. Many years ago, I experienced difficulties
with my health that suddenly became fatal in nature. Over a period of time my system became anemic,
causing my blood count to become low.
One morning, I scurried
up the stairs and suddenly a sweat across my brow with shortness of breath. This occurrence was a concern since my
history of athletics opposed this. After been on a spiritual journey I
contacted two RNs and they presumed I was dehydrated. Their recommendation directed me to the ER immediately.
So I drove to Geisinger
in Danville, up the hill from my office and told the engineering director I
would be to the office in the afternoon.
As I checked into the ER, they took my diastolic readings and bloodwork. Suddenly, I was lying in a bed waiting for the
doctor as my status was elevated for some reason unknown to me. About twenty minutes later a doctor came and
listen to my history and more tests were performed. After that another doctor appeared and discussed
their findings from the tests. He recommended
a hysterectomy if I didn’t desire children, my immediate answer, NO. At this time, there was no family or friends
with me. The doctor also mentioned I may
need to remove my right ovary. I just
listened to his dialogue and we scheduled the surgery for a month later. They observed me overnight and gave me a
blood transfusion, as my blood count was at 5.5 and normal count was 7-11.
The morning of the
surgery my dad, sister, and Pastors arrived for pre-surgery check-in. As my name was called to prep, my dad and Pastors
went with me. Crumbs are for everyone. As the doctor came in that spoke to me, he
was greeted by my dad and Pastors. My
Senior Pastor prayed for the doctor, team, and surgery. When he ended his prayer he said, “Now doc,
you take good care of her, we love her!”
Crumbs. My surgery lasted three
hours longer than originally scheduled. When
I woke up the doctor mentioned reconstructing my ovary took a lot of time. My Pastor’s words most likely convicted the
doctor that intended to remove my ovary during surgery. The bible says, God sets the solitary in
families or the single, but the Bible states, we are the apple of His eye. God’s love, through my Pastor preserved, me through
extended family present. They were not present
the day I was admitted to the ER. Though
I was not a part of a family, God still had CRUMBS or a portion that is effective
for the least of those as many would suppose.
No matter if we are married, single, divorced, estranged, God love is DRIPPIN’
to always cover us with His covenant promises!
Soul Reflection:
Our current status doesn’t have to be our permanent position. The Syrophoenician woman reminds us our love
and persistence will prevail in any situation.
Jesus continued to ignore her requests but she continued to love. She told Him how wonderful He was and amazing
He is! Have you ever been in a situation
in dire need? Did you quit or was your
resolve determined and disciplined to seize your desire?
My
friend love takes many different forms.
Love is not just kissy kissy, touchy touchy, but sometimes it shows up
in gratitude. Our gratitude is our
attitude that shifts Heaven’s altitude to ground level where we are. Love, God desires to be present, speak loudly,
and profoundly! Do you recognize you are
worth it to be resilient no matter the obstacle? Resilience is the ability to spring back into
shape or the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. May God increase your capacity to stay focus
on the target before you!
