Make the Grade, Pass
the Test!
“Forgiveness does not change the past but it enlarges the
future,” Paul Lewis Boese. You’ve heard
this scripture and possibly quoted many times, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us.
Matt 6:12. Yesterday, I had that
opportunity multiple times in the marketplace, but I will share one.
A day at my job, we have a considerable backlog for Pharmaceutical
industry with our systems. I work as an
Instrumentation Engineer so I specify the instruments to build the
systems. It is meticulous and tedious work
at the same time.
At this point, my workload it comparable for two individuals,
but the help of the Holy Spirit I manage by His direction. In the process, I only submerge into issues
necessary, such as issue presented on this day.
I received a quotation and I forwarded to project manage as pricing five
times typical value at $50k. My project manager flagged my president which
involved a conversation. We discovered
the vendor’s calculations we correct and our customer had issues with their
process. We spoke with our customer to
clarify and they would assess their information.
My boss, president is a very intelligent man, type A, and quick-minded
individual. He proceeded to show me how
to perform heat calculations, that I already know how to do. My workload does
not permit me to perform process tasks all the time. So, I quietly listened and said thank you returning
to my desk upstairs. By the time, I
returned to my desk, our secretary called me back downstairs. Inadvertently, I heard my boss telling the VP
behind a slightly closed door, in so many words, I am incompetent and though I
discovered issue due to price, as they laughed.
The secretary as we conversed both overheard and my flesh felt hurt and
angry. I finished helping her and
returned to my desk. I wanted to give
them a piece of my mind and walk out the door. (Col 3:17) Make the Grade or Pass
the Test?
So what did the Holy Spirit chasten and lead me to do? As I worked I asked the Lord to show me how
to respond properly. I have to admit, it
was hard to function. Also, I asked the Lord
to help me remember the hurt I was feeling in my interaction treat others
better. I left for lunch did not speak
to VP, as they knew I overheard them, and I couldn’t yet. I prayed and read a couple books. Then I went
in the conference room and told the Lord I forgive them. They are not saved, and even they were saved, people
are immature, doesn’t mean I should be as well. (Lk 2:52)
When I returned to my desk our customer had emailed the
information for calculations. The Lord
instructed me to perform calculations and forward to my boss. God gave me the opportunity to show my boss
my capabilities and continue to be kind.
Now my boss never responded as he typically does, but God did. I hoped to at least say hello to my VP but he
left early. Later when I drove home I saw a vehicle similar to my VPs and I
prayed for him. God will always present
us with opportunities to be like Him. As
a result, God entrusts us with more of the kingdom.
How do we forgive? We can only forgive by power of Christ
shed blood that forgave us. Why should
we forgive? So, God can forgive us and enlarge our territory as Joseph. (Gen
37-50) When should we forgive? Forgive verbally to God immediately. Jesus did hanging
on the cross. Everything else will align with our mouth. Who should we forgive? All that offend, hurt,
or betray us. (Matt 6, 18:22)
Lessons I learned:1. Never say or communicate what will or is not: uplifting, encouraging, or edifying, you never know who is listening. Ephes 4:29
2. God grades us based upon what we do, not what others do. (Ps 75:6-7)
3. This is about souls, not people’s opinions of us or anything else. (Ephes 6:12, Prov 11:30)
4. God will silence the enemy with love.
My friend, I pray that you would make the grade, God’s love would
continue to abound, and you will allow the Holy Spirit to help you be victorious
each day. Remember, Forgiveness does not change the past, but it will enlarge your future!
